THE PEN AND THE FEATHERED SERPENT
A Creative Pilgrimage of Art, Writing & Earth Magick
Santiago Tlapanaloya, Hidalgo
March 19th - 24th, 2027

Set within a magnificent luxury villa in Santiago Tlapanaloya, Hidalgo, The Pen and the Feathered Serpent is an immersive retreat into creativity, personal mythology, Earth Magick, and the living intelligence of place.

Our exquisite private sanctuary features extraordinary architecture, beautifully appointed bedrooms, expansive lawns, and a spectacular swimming pool—all surrounded by the beauty and spirit of the Mexican landscape.

Located approximately one hour from the ancient pyramids of Teotihuacán and one hour from Mexico City, the villa offers the perfect setting for both peaceful creative immersion and unforgettable cultural exploration.

All retreat transportation, museum admissions, guided tours, and scheduled excursions will be included in the retreat price, allowing participants to relax fully and be carried through the experience from beginning to end.
This experience begins by honoring your singular way of looking at the world—an outlook that could only come from you, because there will only be one of you in all of time.
Are you ready to discover your divine purpose on this planet? Are you ready to manifest and create your wildest dreams?
Accessing Earth Magick is a somatic healing experience that awakens a truly magickal life by seeing everything and every place as alive—whether it is animals, herbs, weather systems, human handiwork, words, or even our stories. Connecting with our alive universe begins with awakening to the ongoing communication that is always happening.
Are you being called to drop into the living Earth, in real time, alongside sacred sisters and brothers? Is your soul yearning for a spiritual container in which you can feel fully seen, supported, and inspired?
Carefully crafted and divinely blessed, this intimate retreat will be open to only a small number of participants, allowing us to keep the experience personal, intentional, and sacred. We will work with plant allies and true medicines of the Earth, approaching each with respect, gratitude, and reverence.

We will work intentionally with the botanical allies that bless the sacred ground beneath us, including:
Lavender
Sage
Palo Santo
Frankincense
Myrrh
Cacao
Each carries its own history, spirit, and wisdom connected with the land we will be embracing.
We will meet these allies with humility and intention, allowing their fragrance, flavor, energy, and ancient stories to deepen our connection to the natural world.

We will walk with the plants. We will walk with Fire, Water, Earth and Air - The seen and unseen elemental forces that move through this sacred land.

Throughout the retreat, these ideas and sacred herbal medicines will move beyond theory and become part of our direct creative experience.
When we place lavender essential oil in a diffuser, we often think we are simply using the plant to create a peaceful atmosphere. But what if lavender is also working upon us—softening the body, quieting the mind, and drawing us into its own natural rhythm? From that more receptive place, we begin to notice the subtler language of the living world: a feather appearing in our path, a sudden breeze, or an unexpected symbol that asks us to pause. Perhaps these moments are not random, but invitations to listen.
When we listen to the land in this way, our attention becomes an offering. Throughout the retreat, we will notice the symbols appearing around us and explore their messages through writing , visual art, movement, breath, ritual, and storytelling.

The serpent represents the Earth, instinct, transformation, and renewal. The feather represents breath, spirit, imagination, and the messages carried between worlds. The pen becomes the bridge between them—giving form and language to what has been felt, remembered, and revealed.

Jamie Della will guide participants through Earth Magick, terrapsychology, creative writing, and the exploration of personal mythology, inviting each person to delve deeply into their own unique signature.
Naomi will bring shamanic breathwork, ceremony, and energetic clearing, helping participants move beyond the thinking mind and into the deeper creative body of the true soul’s path.

Our days will include guided writing, breathwork, visual art, sensory walks, creative ritual, Sound baths, fireside storytelling, and spacious time to listen—to the land, to the body, and to the voice within. Journals may become illuminated books of transformation, filled with words, images, symbols, colors, and discoveries gathered throughout the journey.
A pilgrimage to Teotihuacán and the Temple of the Feathered Serpent will offer an opportunity to experience these ancient symbols within the landscape that has carried them for centuries. During a private early-morning tour, we will walk in silence toward the Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon, following in the footsteps of the architects, artists, and ancestors who came before us.

After our journey to the Pyramids we will participate in a private Temazcal—an ancient ancestral ceremony of purification, vision, and renewal. Held within the sacred warmth of the Earth, this powerful experience invites us to journey inward, release and detoxify what is no longer needed, and emerge with greater clarity, intention, and connection to spirit.
Our visit to Frida Kahlo’s Casa Azul will explore the relationship between place, identity, pain, symbolism, and the courage to turn one’s life into art.

Seasonal, intentional meals crafted by ZenAgain Catering will support the rhythm of each day, bringing color, sustenance, beauty, and the spirit of the land to the table.

Participants will leave not simply with something they have created, but with a renewed relationship to creativity and a deeper ability to recognize the living conversation unfolding around them.
Because your voice is singular. Your path is your own. Here, it will be held within a sacred container—and there will only ever be one of you in all of time.

I have created this current retreat from a deeply personal place, drawing on many years of work in wellness, food, creativity, and spiritual practice. Mexico has long held a very special place in my heart, and I feel a deep connection to this particular area—its land, history, culture, and ancient spirit. I have brought together the people, place, and experiences that I believe will make this a truly one of a kind memorable journey.
I will be your host alongside two extraordinary facilitators, and you will also find me where I am often happiest—in the kitchen, preparing beautiful authentic high frequency rainbow foods for us to share.

Jamie Della
Celebrated Author, Story keeper and & Earth Magick Mentor
Jamie Della is an ordained Priestess, meditation teacher on Sounds True One, retreat leader, and award-winning author of ten books, including A Box of Magick, The Book of Spells, and The Wicca Cookbook. She uses the pen and meditation as magickal tools to weave the mystical into the mundane. Her “Herbal Journeys” column in Witches and Pagans magazine explores the in-depth relationship we can have with the consciousness of our plant allies. Articles about food sovereignty, water justice, and the rising Divine Feminine have appeared in four anthologies, several magazines, and online platforms.
Jamie has practiced, taught, and mentored Goddess and earth-based spirituality for over thirty years through retreats, workshops, and her one-on-one Magickal Mentorship. You can watch her teachings on Jamie Della’s YouTube Channel or learn more at https://jamiedella.com.
Jamie’s relationship with the Divine Feminine began in childhood when her family moved to the epicenter of Rancho Santiago de Santa Ana, a 62,500-acre cattle ranch the size of seven modern Orange County, California cities. The ancestresses pushed aside the veil between the worlds as easily as moving a silk curtain, sharing their lives, customs, and influence in the long journey from Mexico to shape the face of Los Angeles and California. The portal to her matriarchal lineage opened, and she began to listen.
“I come from a place deep in Mexico where serpents inform the spiritual work of transformation."
My mother’s ancient home traces back to the Mexican state of Tlaltica, where we will be gathering: a place of insatiable joy for living, filial perspective, and symbol-rich traditions that are the anchor and wings of my life. My sixth-great-grandmother was only 11 years old when she and her family left the town of Terrenate, a Nahuatl word meaning “land the color of masa,” to travel north and join the Anza Expedition, a 550-mile, 5-month journey to establish Monterey as the capital of Alta California in 1775.
My ancestors built a bucolic life on Rancho Santiago de Santa Ana, raising cattle, riding horses, throwing fiestas, making music, and competing in rodeos. I felt their memories and allowed them to guide my lifelong journey to uncover legal documentation, pictures, and letters to write the Mexican woman’s perspective of the American invasion of California in 1846 in my upcoming book Daughters of Santa Ana.
In the long hallway between life and death, the liminal world between worlds, I met my maternal grandmother, who died the month before I was born. Her long roots gave me a sense of belonging and so I vowed to carry the torch for our shared matriarchal lineage into the future. In our time together, we will explore how you can work with spirits, ancestral and land, to activate the healing that must take place so you can live your most vibrant, conscious existence. I look forward to meeting you.

Naomi Pareja
Somatic Practitioner, Sound Healer
My work is about helping people find their way back to themselves — using the body, not just the mind, as the doorway. As a somatic practitioner and sound healer, I work with breath, sound, and felt sensation to help people move out of overwhelm and disconnection and into a deeper relationship with who they actually are underneath the noise.
What I bring to this retreat is transformational breathwork, shamanic ceremony, and nervous system regulation — not as performance, but as an invitation. Breath opens what words can't reach. Ceremony gives the nervous system permission to soften, to be witnessed, to let go of what it's been holding. And regulation — real, physiological regulation — is what makes it possible for creativity to move again. You can't make from a body that's clenched in survival.

Naomi is of Mayan and Spanish descent, with roots in the Yucatán Peninsula of Mexico. Her work draws on ancestral healing practices passed through her lineage, combined with modern somatic and energy-healing science.
